Terms and Conditions:
20th Century Motorcars Ltd Trading as C20 Motorcars
1. Nature of Services
20th Century Motorcars Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) provides services including but not limited to:
Full Vehicle Restoration
• Complete teardown and rebuild of classic vehicles, restoring them to original or custom specifications.
• Includes both interior and exterior restoration.
Mechanical Restoration and Upgrades
• Rebuilding or replacing engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components.
• Modern upgrades for performance, fuel efficiency, or emissions compliance, if desired.
Bodywork and Paint
• Rust removal, dent repair, and panel replacement.
• Full resprays, colour matching, and period-correct paint finishes.
Interior Restoration
• Reupholstery of seats, door panels, and headliners using period-correct or custom materials.
• Refurbishment or replacement of dashboards, gauges, and interior trim.
Electrical System Repairs and Upgrades
• Restoration of original wiring and electrical systems.
• Modern upgrades, such as new wiring harnesses, LED lighting, or infotainment systems.
Suspension and Brake Systems
• Restoration or modernization of suspension components.
• Brake system refurbishment, including drum-to-disc conversions if desired.
Engine Conversions and Tuning
• Electric vehicle (EV) conversions for classic cars.
• Performance tuning and carburetor/fuel injection upgrades.
Chassis Restoration
• Frame-off restorations, including sandblasting, rustproofing, and strengthening of chassis.
Custom Fabrication and Metalwork
• Custom fabrication of body panels, brackets, and bespoke parts.
• Sheet metal forming and welding services.
Parts Sourcing and Reproduction
• Locating rare or hard-to-find parts for classic cars.
• Fabrication of custom or reproduction parts.
Concours Preparation and Detailing
• High-level detailing for show cars, including paint correction and interior detailing.
• Preparation for concours events and competitions.
Preservation Services
• Maintaining patina and original finishes for collectors who prefer preservation over full restoration.
• Mechanical servicing to ensure safe, reliable operation.
Consultation and Project Management
• Advising clients on restoration options and project feasibility.
• Project planning, budgeting, and progress updates.
Transportation and Storage
• Enclosed vehicle transportation to and from the workshop.
• Secure storage options for classic cars during restoration.
Inspections and Valuations
• Pre-purchase inspections of classic cars.
• Valuations for insurance or resale purposes.
Customization and Modifications
• Custom builds and restomods, blending classic aesthetics with modern performance and technology.
• Personalized touches, such as custom interiors and paint schemes.
MOT and Roadworthiness Compliance
• Ensuring vehicles meet MOT and safety standards.
• Arranging MOT tests and performing necessary repairs.
2. Scope of Works
A detailed specification of services can be provided to the Customer in writing. Any subsequent changes or adjustments will be communicated either verbally, via email, or in writing, and agreed upon accordingly.
3. Estimates
Due to the complexities involved in working with classic and specialist vehicles, all estimates and quotations are subject to change based on ongoing assessments. Estimates are valid for 30 days from the issue date. Travel time and mileage costs may apply for off-site consultations or visits.
4. RoadworthinessThe Company advises Customers to use DVSA-registered MOT testing stations to assess vehicle roadworthiness. Annual MOT tests are recommended for all vehicles, irrespective of age or MOT exemption status. MOT tests can be arranged upon request, but ultimate responsibility for roadworthiness rests with the Customer.
5. Project Timelines
Any project timelines provided, whether verbal or written, are indicative only and may be subject to adjustment throughout the project’s duration.
6. Billing and Payments
Billing will occur at monthly intervals. For longer projects, stage payments in advance may be required. The Company reserves the right to charge interest on overdue balances. In cases where invoices remain unpaid for more than 180 days, the Company may auction the vehicle to recover costs, including outstanding invoices and associated fees. Work may be suspended if overdue amounts exceed £5,000 (excluding VAT).
Hourly Rates (subject to periodic review and prior notice to Customers):
• Trim Shop Rate: £55 + VAT (for all interior trim and
• Workshop Rate: £65 + VAT
• Restoration Rate: £65 + VAT
• Specialist/Service/Consultation Rate: £80 + VAT
A deposit may be required to secure a position in the workshop schedule, with payments potentially required in advance of work commencement.
7. Delivery of Services
The Company will make reasonable efforts to meet project milestones. However, these dates are for guidance only. Customers will be updated on progress and any changes or delays. Services may be suspended or delayed due to unavailability of the Customer for consultation, workshop scheduling requirements, Force Majeure, or other exceptional circumstances.
8. Storage
Complimentary vehicle storage is provided for up to 2 days before the commencement of services and for 14 days following project completion. Thereafter, storage fees of £48.00 per week may apply. If a bill remains unpaid for more than four weeks, storage charges will accrue.
9. Photography and Marketing
Customer vehicles may be photographed or filmed for marketing and social media purposes. Customers preferring to opt out must notify the Company at the project’s outset.
10. Insurance
The Customer is responsible for maintaining comprehensive insurance coverage for their vehicle(s) at full market value while in the Company’s custody.
11. Guarantee and Liability
All products are guaranteed in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Items found defective due to material or structural issues will be replaced or credited at the Company’s discretion. The Company is not liable for consequential loss or damage or for repairs undertaken without prior written authorization.
Claims must be reported verbally and in writing immediately upon discovery of a defect. The Customer must provide sufficient details and access to verify the claim.
